Ten local children received free basic dental care courtesy of Lifetime Dental Care during the national Give Kids A Smile event May 30 in Hays.

Lifetime Dental Care Business Manager Jackie Schumacher said 13 volunteers worked with the young patients, providing about $5,000 in dentistry.
This was our third year participating and definitely not our last. We would like to grow the event and help more children in the future,” Schumacher added. “We also use it as an opportunity to raise awareness of the other health problems caused by untreated dental disease, and talk to the kids and their families about what can happen.”

Each year, approximately 450,000 children benefit from more than 1,500 events, all because of the efforts of 40,000 or more annual volunteers nationwide.
