Four hospitalized after 3-vehicle Sunday night accident

Screen Shot 2014-05-20 at 9.53.00 AMMOUNDRIDGE- Four people were injured in a three-vehicle crash just before 10:30 p.m. Sunday in McPherson County.

The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 2007 Ford Focus driven by Delmar J. Palabrica, 32, Abilene, was disabled and unoccupied on Interstate 135 five miles north of Moundridge after hitting a deer.

A 2009 Nissan Altima driven by Shannan M. Nickel, 37, Newton, and a 2007 Infiniti driven by Richard E. Watenpaugh, 65, Lindsborg, were traveling north on I-135 and hit the Ford.

Watenpaugh and passengers in the Infiniti, Elizabeth E. Watenpaugh, 54, Lindsborg, Danielle C. Tongier, 27, Leawood, and Henry O. Tongier, 27, Overland Park, were transported to Memorial Hospital.

No other injuries were reported. The KHP said all were properly restrained at the time of the accident.
