Hays Monarchs American Legion drops pair of one-run games in Dodge City

The Hays Monarchs American Legion baseball team suffered a pair of on-run losses yesterday in their first action in over a week. The Monarchs lose a both of their games in Dodge City by scores of 5-4.

In the opener, Dodge City scored four unearned runs in the second and led 5-1 before the Monarchs score three in the seventh. They had runners at first and second with one out but two fly balls to center ended the rally. Cameron Brin takes the loss, allowing four unearned runs on four hits over three innings.

In the second game, the Rangers broke a 4-4 tie with a run in the fifth. Both teams scored two in the first. Dodge added two more in the fourth but the Monarchs answered with two in the top of the fifth. Jared Vitztum allowed only one earned run over five innings and takes the loss.

The Monarchs are now 4-3 on the season and plays two games tomorrow and two on Sunday in McCook, Nebraska.
