Liam Stults had the key hit in the first game then pitched a no-hitter in the second to lead the Hays Monarchs American Legion baseball team to a pair of wins in McCook, Nebraska Saturday. The Monarchs defeated Plattsmouth, Neb. 3-2 in the first contest then blanked McCook 4-0 in the second to move to 6-3 on the season.

Stults hit a three-run triple in the second inning to put the Monarchs up 3-1 in game one. He finished 2-for-3. Dick Hockett picked up the complete game win, allowing one earned runs on two hits striking out six and walking none.

Stults fired a no-hitter in the second game, striking out six and walking none. The Monarchs scored a run in the third, one in the fourth and two in the fifth. Ryan Schippers and Justin Pfeifer both had RBIs.
