USD 489 board will consider 10-cent school lunch increase

Food prices could be going up in Hays USD 489.

At Monday’s work session, scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m. at Rockwell Administration Center, the Board of Education will consider increasing the price of all meals by 10 cents.

In a memo to the board, the administration said the increase will offset expenses caused by rising food costs and federal requirements.

The dime-per-meal increase would affect student and adult breakfasts and lunches.

Since the bids for milk have yet to be received, those prices could change in the future, as well.
