The skies went dark and thunder rumbled — but Wednesday night’s front that passed through Ellis County skirted Hays and brought only trace rainfall to the county.
Hays Recreation Commission youth baseball and softball games were called early just before 8 p.m. Wednesday as the front brought lightning — and a rainbow to the east that lasted nearly an hour.
The story was the same throughout most of northwest Kansas, although there was a report from northern Gove County of just more than a half-inch of precipitation and another from Graham County of 0.4 inches.
Reports from Trego and Russell counties showed no rain to trace amounts.
Skies look to be clear Thursday and Friday, with a slight chance of thunderstorms returning Friday night and lasting through the weekend.
