The Ellis County Commission received five bids for construction on the EMS/rural fire building Wednesday.

The base bids ranged from $3.4 million to $3.78 million. Commercial Builders of Hays submitted the lowest bid at $3.48 million.

In December, the commission rejected the first round of bids after they all came in over the $3.5 million estimate.

Ellis County Administrator Greg Sund said he anticipates the commission awarding the bid at its next meeting,scheduled for July 7, although commissioners could schedule a special meeting later this month to help speed the process.
