The Hays Arts Council has drawn up what HAC director Brenda Meder promises to be a diverse and fun Summer Gallery Walk on Friday.
“We are very excited about the Summer Art Walk. They have always been our … smaller art walks, but are getting bigger every year,” she said. “We have some amazing work on this one.”
Meder said the HAC’s art gallery will feature “High Wings Wetlands,” the work of Hays native and Russell resident Doloris Pederson, an award-winning artist and art judge for the California Art Guild.
“Doloris is a ‘en plein air’ painter, which means she likes going on sight and really experiencing the environment,” Meder said. “All the senses are engaged, the smell, the world your living in, the heat of the sun, watching the water and the birds move as she is sitting out there — and you really see that come alive in Doloris’ paintings.”
The art walk is from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. and will feature live music concerts, a community acoustic jam session, Jilg Studio 711, the Ellis County Historical Society and more.
