HUTCHINSON — A child playing with lighter fluid and a lighter is said to be the cause of the fire that swept through a Hutchinson home Wednesday afternoon critically injuring one of its residents.
Doug Hanan of the Hutchinson Fire department also released the name of the woman injured in the fire. Judy King was rescued by fireman just before the area of the home was consumed by a fast-moving fire, which started on the front porch and quickly spread through out the small one-story home. She was airlifted to a Wichita’s hospital in critical condition. Hanen said the fire department will continue to work with the Hutchinson Police Department and Court Services in the case.
The fire department also took time this afternoon to stress to parents and guardians the importance of keeping flammable devices secured and away from children.
