3 hospitalized in 2 Ottawa Co. accidents

khpMINNEAPOLIS, Kan- Three people were injured in two Ottawa County accidents on Saturday.

Just after 5:30 p.m., the Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 1981 International truck driven by Linda J. Aylward, 53, Solomon, was northbound on 260th Road just north of Ottawa Road.

Due to heavy dust from a semi in front of her Aylward was unable to see a 1975 Chevy pickup driven by Thomas M. Brenneman, 60, Solomon, headed southbound on 260th Road.

The vehicles collided head on.

Aylward and Brenneman were transported to Salina Regional Medical Center.

The KHP reported neither driver was wearing a seat belt.

Just after 3 p.m., at U.S. 81 and Limestone Road, a Ford 500 driven by Chad Anthony Childs, 37, Newton, struck the trailer being towed by 1994 Freightliner. The semi-truck driven by Bill R. Brown, 82, Minneapolis had failed to stop at Limestone Road.

Childs was transported to Salina Regional Medical Center. Brown was not injured.
