Driver hospitalized after wind blows truck off highway

Screen Shot 2014-05-20 at 9.53.00 AMOAKLEY — A truck driver was injured when strong winds blew his semi off the highway just after 8 p.m. on Sunday in Logan County.

The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 2001 International semi driven by Rusty Lee McKinney, 36, Spring, Texas, was southbound on U.S. 83, 26 miles south of Interstate 70. The wind blew the semi over ,and it came to rest on the driver’s side in the northbound lane.

McKinney was transported to Logan County Hospital for treatment

The KHP reported he was properly restrained at the time of the accident.
