DODGE CITY (AP) — The Dodge City Community College Board of Trustees wants to be clear that it supports a proposed merger with Fort Hays State University.
The trustees Tuesday unanimously approved a resolution declaring its support for the plan.
The Dodge City Daily Globe reported the trustees wanted to end any talk of the Dodge City school operating as a separate institution, with FHSU having a presence on campus.
The resolution also met a requirement from Dodge City officials that the college board affirm it would actively pursue the merger if it wanted access to $5.5 million in bonds needed for part of the project.
The merger still must be approved by FHSU, the Kansas Board of Regents, the Legislature and Gov. Sam Brownback.
