Larks end four-game losing streak with big win in Dodge City

The Hays Larks pound out a season-high 21 hits as they avenge Tuesday’s 12-1 loss to Dodge City with a 12-4 victory Wednesday night at Cavalier Field in Dodge City. The victory snaps a four-game losing streak and moves them to 8-8 in the Jayhawk League and 11-8 overall. Dodge City, who had won eight of their last 12, falls to 9-11 and 4-11 in league play.

The Larks score two in the second and two in the third. Then after a Dodge City three-run homer, came back with a single run in the fourth, two in the fifth and one in the sixth. They blew the game open with four in the eighth.

Tyler Leffler led the Larks with four hits while while Michael Burns and Cooper Langley both had three hits. Langley, who had two doubles, along with Derrick Mount both drove in three and Tyler Detmer homered.

Blake Roley picks up the win in his first start, allowing three runs on four hits over six innings, striking out two and walking two.

The Larks return home Thursday night to face the Boulder Collegians in a non-league game before taking on El Dorado for three this weekend. Admission is free once again Thursday thanks to the Glassman Corporation. You can hear the game on KAYS beginning at 6:45.

Elsewhere last night, Wellington defeats El Dorado 5-3 and Boulder falls 5-1 to the Haysville Aviators.
