HUTCHINSON — A Hutchinson man has been arrested in connection with an animal abuse case in December.
Juan Hernandez is accused of one count of cruelty to animals for hanging a baby pit bull and killing it on Dec. 17.
According to police, a family member allegedly took money from Hernandez, and he now is accused of retaliating by killing the puppy.
He was in court Thursday morning for the formal reading of the charge. He faces a jail sentence of up to a year in jail and a fine of up to $1,000 if convicted.
Hernandez is free on bond.
