The Ellis County Commission will canvass results of the Hays USD 489 local option budget election at 10 a.m. Monday at the Commission Chambers.

Two commissioners are unable to attend and will appoint stand-ins, something that is allowed by state law, said Ellis County Clerk Donna Maskus.

The unofficial results showed voters rejected the proposed LOB increase by a wide margin — 1,794 to 3,425.
