Linda Carol Steffen

Hays, Kansas – Linda Carol Steffen, age 57, died Wednesday, November 2, 2011, at Hays Medical Center, Hays, Kansas.

She was born July 7, 1954, at Hays, Kansas, to Ted T. “Lucky” and Dorothy P. (Dinges) Burkart. She married Daniel James Steffen on October 21, 1989, in Hays.

She was a payroll clerk for U.S.D. #489 in Hays Kansas, for five years. She was a 1972 graduate of Hays High School and attended Fort Hays State University both of Hays. She also worked at Baxter Labs., Kline’s Department Store, Hays Path Lab/Central Plains Lab all in Hays, Kansas. She was activity involved with the Ellis County Habitat for Humanity and Kansas Association of School Board Officers. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Hays.

Survivors include her husband, Daniel Steffen, of the home; one son, Cody James Steffen, Kansas City, MO; her mother, Dorothy Burkart, Hays,
KS; one brother Tom Burkart and wife Darlene, Pueblo, CO; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father; one brother, Steve Burkart; and one nephew Clayton Burkart.

Services are 11:00 A.M. Saturday, November 5. 2011, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 2704 Fort Hays, Kansas. Inurnment will be in Mount Allen Cemetery, Hays, Kansas.

Family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:00 A.M. Saturday at the church.
