13th Street improvements on commission’s work session agenda

13th street

After giving the go-ahead for a 13th Street reconstruction, the Hays City Commission will discuss hiring a design engineer for the project.

The contract is up for discussion at a work session scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Thursday at City Hall.

The project, which will rebuild 13th Street from Main to Milner, is estimated at approximately $1.8 million.

Included in that total is $95,000 for design engineering of the project, and the city staff is recommending entering into a contract with Professional Engineering Consultants, Wichita.

The project will include a series of improvements ranging from upgrades to street and intersections; storm sewer and water service; curb, sidewalks and gutters; brick crosswalks; decorative street lights; and a brick street from Main to Oak.
