HUTCHINSON, Kan. – Improper disposal of fireworks is being blamed for a Saturday morning house fire in Hutchinson.
Officials say the residence at 51 Random Road was fully engulfed in flames when they arrived.
The fire took 20-minutes to control, with units remaining on scene for two hours.
Five people were at home at the time of the fire. All of them escaped safely.
One fire fighter was transported by EMS to the Hutchinson Regional Medical Center with an injury. He was treated and released.
Damage from the fire was estimated at $60,000 to the structure and $30,000 to the contents.
The garage suffered heavy damage with heat and smoke damage throughout the residence.
