Democratic gubernatorial candidate Paul Davis will be in Hays on Sunday. He plans to hold a community gathering at the VFW, 2106 Vine, at 6 p.m.

Davis plans to take on the incumbent, Republican Gov. Sam Brownback in November’s general election. Brownback faces a primary challenge from Wichita Republican Jennifer Winn in the Aug. 5 primary.

Davis’ running mate is Jill Docking, a former chairwoman of the Kansas Board of Regents. Docking is currently a financial planner in Wichita. Davis is an attorney from Lawrence and currently serves as the minority leader in the Kansas House of Representatives.
