The Hays Larks scored four runs in the second inning to grab a 5-0 lead and hold off the San Diego Waves the rest of the way for a 6-3 win in their opener at the 80th NBC World Series in Wichita. The Larks improve to 30-13 with their 10th straight win and will face the defending champion Seattle Studs Saturday at 10pm.

Game Highlights
Michael Burns led off the game with a double and scored on Tyler Detmer’s groundout. The Larks then strung together three straight infield singles to open their four-run second inning. Burns two-run double capped the inning.
The Waves rallied with two runs in the second and another in the fifth to pull within 5-3, but Aaron Cornell’s double scored Evan Gruener for the final margin.
Nick Goza (6-4) picks up the win, allowing three runs on six hits over six innings, striking out four and walking three. Ian Bentley threw two scoreless innings and DJ Carr recorded the final three outs for his fourth save.
