Two hospitalized after motorcycle hits semi

Motorcycle accidentRUSSELL- Two people were injured in a motorcycle accident just before 8 p.m. on Friday in Russell County.

The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 2006 Yamaha driven by Thomas Richard Cooke, 56, Hampton, VA., was northbound on U.S. 281 one mile south of Russell.

The vehicle was turning left from the eastbound off ramp, failed to yield to a 2003 Freightliner semi and collided with the truck’s trailer.

Cooke and a passenger on the Yamaha Stacye Lynn Cooke, 63, Hampton, VA., were transported to Via Christi Hospital. The semi driver was not injured.
