GOODLAND — A Louisiana woman was killed in an early morning accident Tuesday on Interstate 70 in northwest Kansas.
The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 2005 Kia Sorrento driven by Michelle M. Grabert, 52, Ponchatoula, La., was westbound on I-70 at 4:45 a.m., approximately 7 miles west of Goodland, when the driver fell asleep and drifted off the roadway.
The driver then over-corrected, and crossed the roadway, where the vehicle then rolled approximately five times.
Grabert was killed as a result of injuries sustained in the accident and transported to Bateman’s Funeral Home, Goodland.
A passenger in the vehicle, Kristi Lee Munoz, 28, Mountain Home Air Force Base, Idaho, was transported to Goodland Regional Medical Center for treatment.
The KHP said Grabert was properly restrained, while Munoz was not wearing a seat belt, according to the report.
