A 25-year-old Hays man was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of multiple incidents of electronic solicitation and sexual exploitation of a child.

According to Hays Police Chief Don Scheibler, Chance Charles Keiswetter, 25, is accused of two counts of electronic solicitation and seven counts of sexual exploitation of a child. He is being held in the Ellis County jail.

“Keiswetter was in possession of child pornography,” said Scheibler, “and we have confirmed Keiswetter’s content was being shared outside of Ellis County.”

Scheibler added the case came to the attention of the Hays Police Department after a phone call from a concerned parent who found “inappropriate content on a child’s social media.”

“Had this parent not called us, we would not have known about it, and it could have been going on forever,” he said. “We know it is happening in this area. … It’s the duty of parents to monitor all of the social media used by their children. If a parent finds something worrisome, we want them to notify us.”

The investigation is continuing.
