A Great Bend man has been sentenced to more than three years in prison for causing an accident that claimed the life of an Ellis County man.

Cameron Wade Williams was sentenced to 41 months in prison Wednesday after being convicted of involuntary manslaughter/driving under the influence in the September 2013 wrong-way accident that killed 37-year-old Douglas Feldt.

On Sept. 13, 2013, Williams, then 19, was driving eastbound in the westbound lane on Interstate 70 when his pickup struck head-on a 2010 Kia Soul driven by Feldt.

Feldt died as a result of his injuries from the accident.

Williams entered into a plea in May and submitted a pair of requests for a reduced sentence, but both requests were denied by District Judge Edward Bouker at Wednesday’s sentencing.

Williams was remanded to the Ellis County Sheriff’s Department and will be transferred to El Dorado before being placed in a Kansas Department of Corrections facility.
