Four hospitalized after rear-end semi accident

GARDEN CITY –Four people were injured in an accident just after 6 p.m. on Friday in Finney County.

Screen Shot 2014-07-03 at 5.13.15 AMThe Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 2006 Nissan Sentra driven by Jose D. Tavares-Villegas, 34, Lakin. was westbound on U.S. 50 behind a vehicle  and while attempting to pass in the right lane rear ended a 1990 Kenworth semi truck that was stopped with hazard lights on at a railroad crossing.

Tavares-Villegas and passengers in the Sentra Esther L. Martinez, 69, Olga Delgado, 26 and Florentino Delgado, 17 all of Lakin were transported to St. Catherine’s Hospital.

The KHP reported Delgado was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident.
