Three teens among 4 hospitalized after SUV hits semi

Screen Shot 2014-07-03 at 5.13.15 AMHOME CITY, Kan- Four people from Frankfort Kansas were injured in an accident just before 2 a.m. on Sunday in Marshall County.

The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 1998 GMC Sierra driven by Casey D. Farrant, 18, was southbound on 18th Road just east of Home City. The vehicle failed to yield to a 2004 Peterbilt semi that was eastbound on U.S. 36. The Sierra struck the trailer of the semi.

Farrant was transported to KU Medical Center. Two passengers in the Sierra Whalen P. Kokoruda, 15 and Hunter L. Boyle, 20 were transported to Bryan Medical Center West in Lincoln, Nebraska.
A fourth passenger John J. Essman, 17, was transported to Stormont Vail in Topeka.

The KHP reported the driver and passengers in the Sierra were not wearing seat belts.
