Fireworks, jail renovation on Ellis Co. Commission agenda

By JONATHAN ZWEYGARDT

At Monday night’s meeting, the Ellis County Commission will discuss a proposed resolution that would make it easier to ease the ban on fireworks in rural Ellis County.

The resolution allows the commission and, in some cases, the rural fire chief to relax the ban. It also would ban sky lanterns throughout the county.

The commission also will discuss needed improvements to 55th street, 230th Avenue and Feedlot Road.

Finally, the commission will receive information on the bids received for the renovation and construction of the Law Enforcement Center and jail. The county received four bids ranging from $5.15 to $5.56 million.

Monday’s meeting is scheduled for 5 p.m. at the Ellis County Courthouse Commission meeting room.
