An overnight front skirted the area around Hays on Wednesday night, but offered up some rainfall for northwest Kansas.
Early reports from Thomas County show more than a half-inch of rain, with reports of a tenth of an inch to trace amounts ranging from Rawlins to Osborne County.
The mercury is expected to near triple digits Thursday, with a slim chance of overnight thunderstorms.
