TOPEKA – In a series of events Friday in Garden City, Gov. Sam Brownback will talk with the agricultural community and other local business owners about the effects of federal regulations on their livelihoods.

He will be joined by Secretary of Agriculture Jackie McClaskey and Secretary of Wildlife, Parks and Tourism Robin Jennison.

Among the scheduled participants are Sunflower Electric Power Corp. representatives Wayne Penrod and Clare Gustin.

Penrod is executive manager of environmental policy, and Gustin is vice president of member services and external affairs of Hays-based Sunflower.

The events will range from a question and answer session with Kansas Farm Bureau members to a tour of Playa Lake east of Garden City.

Brownback will close the tour by kicking the ceremonial first ball for a Garden City Community College women’s soccer game.
