Mix103 Lacrosse beats Meade 21-12

The LaCrosse Leopards used a big second half to down the Meade Buffaloes on Friday night to advance to the class 2-1A sub-state championship game next Friday night. On their second possession of the game the Meade Buffaloes scored their first touchdown, a Trevin Wiens two yard touchdown run to take a 6-0. The Leopards answered back and took their first lead of the game on their very next possession, a Kip Keeley two yard touchdown run and the PAT made it 7-6, LaCrosse. And that is how the first quarter ended.

Four minutes and fifty-four seconds into the second quarter Meade got on the board for the second time in the game, it would be their last time as well, a Chris Hardaway three yard run. The halftime score was 12-7 Meade.

The Leopards got the ball to begin the second half and wasted no time getting on the board. LaCrosse put together a six play sixty-five yard drive and capped it out with an Austin Webs eight yard touchdown run to take a 14-12 lead. After LaCrosse forced a Meade three and out the offense went right back to work and scored on an eight play sixty-three yard drive capped off by a Taylor Stull one yard run, LaCrosse led 21-12 and went on to win by that score.

LaCrosse out gained Meade 184-39 in the second half and had 254 total yards of offense in the game, led by quarterback Taylor Stull who rushed for 159 yards and one touchdown. Trevin Wiens rushed for 111 yards and one touchdown for the Buffaloes.

With the win LaCrosse improves to 11-0 on the season and will play the Plainville Cardinals in the sub-state championship next Friday night in Plainville. The Cardinals picked up a 6-0 win over Stanton County on Friday night.
