FHSU Women’s Basketball Upsets No. 20 Tarleton State

The Fort Hays State women’s basketball team shook off an early double-figure deficit to pick up their third straight win over  a ranked team, defeating No. 20 Tarleton State 67-56 Sunday at the St. Mary’s Classic in San Antonio, Texas.

FHSU trailed 10-0 four minutes into the game, but regrouped to take a 41-30 halftime lead and never led by less than seven in the second half. 

The Tigers shot just 28-percent for the game but outrebounded the TexAnns by 17 and hit 29 of thier 33 free throw attempts. 

Katelyn Edwards led four Tigers in double-figures with a game-high 20 points and 13 rebounds. Traci Keyser added 17 points and was 8-for-8 from the free throw line. Senior guards Bechard and Kimber Weiser each scored 10.

The win improves the Lady Tigers t0 2-0 for the third consecutive season. They return to action Wednesday at Gross Coliseum against Tabor College at 7pm.
