ELLIS — The Ellis Public Works Department will hold a water distribution event from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday at the Ellis Municipal Pool.

Water will be distributed until the required retention level is reached, as some water is needed to maintain the pool lining.

Ellis Public Works Director Alan Scheuerman estimated up to 60,000 gallons of water could be reused as part of the distribution.

He said the chemicals in the pool have weakened to the point the water is safe to use watering grass or plants or as water for livestock.
