A Hays woman is in jail on probable cause of attempted murder and aggravated battery. County Attorney Tom Drees says 26-year-old Domonique Benavidez appeared in Ellis County District Court Monday morning for a bond hearing.

The victim is in stable condition at Hays Medical Center. The adult male has a stab wound to the chest and a gunshot wound to the hip. The incident happened around 1 a.m. Sunday in the 700 block of East 6th Street.

Charges have not yet been filed against Benavidez, who’s bond has been set at $100,000.
