Great Lakes Airline wants to change its flight schedule to and from Hays beginning early next month. The city is concerned about the changes affecting connectivity with outbound flights in Denver, and City Manager Toby Dougherty says this change would disrupt travel right before Christmas.
Requests have been submitted to Great Lakes to delay the changes until after the first of the year, and the city is trying to schedule a meeting with the airline’s president to discuss the situation.
Great Lakes proposed taking away one of the weekend flights, but has reversed that decision. Great Lakes currently provides two more flights than is required under the Essential Air Service contract.
