ELKHART- A Kansas man was injured in an accident just before 4 p.m. on Friday in Morton County.

The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 2008 Yamaha motorcycle driven by Bruno Olivas Jr., 36, Hugoton, was northbound in the 500 Block of North Baca in Elkhart at a high rate of speed.

The motorcycle failed to negotiate a curve in the roadway, entered the east ditch and struck a brick retaining wall.

Morton County EMS transported Olivas Jr. from the scene to a local hospital. He was then air lifted to Via Christi in Wichita.

The KHP reported he was not wearing a helmet.
