The Fort Hays State Lady Tigers closed the game on a 28-8 run to defeat the Newman Jets Tuesday at Fugate Gymnasium in Wichita. The Lady Tigers led by 16 at the half and quickly pushed the lead to 19 before the Jets pulled within eighth with 11:23 to play. Chelsea Mason hit a 3-pointer on the next possession which fueled Fort Hays State’s decisive run.

Newman hit just two of their final 17 shots over the final 11:32 and shoots just 28-percent for the game

Kate Lehman led FHSU with 21 points, 15 rebounds and six blocked shots. Paige Lunsford added a career-high 12 points and six boards while dishing out four assists. Jill Faxon adds 12 and Mason 10.

Game Highlights

The Lady Tigers have now won three straight to move to 4-1. Newman falls to 2-2 with both losses at the hands of teams from the MIAA (Central Missouri).
