Eight hospitalized after two I-70 accidents in Sherman Co.

Just before 8 a.m., the Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 2000 Chevy van driven by William J. McBride III, Rose Hill, was westbound on Interstate 70 nine miles west of Goodland. The driver lost control of the vehicle. It entered the median and rolled coming to rest on its roof.

McBride III and passengers Dorotha M. McBride, 44, Griffin J. McBride, 16, and Kylie R. McBride, 16, all of Rose Hill; Allyson E. Rodriguez, 26, and a child, Wichita, were transported to Goodland Regional Medical Center.

Just after 8 a.m., The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 2002 Dodge R15 driven by Avila Flavio, 39, Couer d’ Alene, Idaho, was traveling westbound on Interstate 70 just east of the Colorado state line.

A semi was passing the Dodge when the driver lost control on the ice and ran into the semi. The driver of the Dodge overcorrected. The vehicle entered the ditch and overturned.

Flavio and a passenger Tamara Flavio, 50, Couer d’ Alene, were transported to Kit Carson Colorado Memorial Hospital.

The semi driver was not injured.

The KHP reported all were properly restrained at the time of the accidents.
