LIBERAL – A Kansas woman died in an accident just before 7 a.m. on Wednesday in Seward County.

The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 2011 Chevy passenger car driven by Patricia A. Amerin, Plains, was westbound on County Road 7 one mile north of Liberal.

The driver failed to stop at a stop sign and crashed into a 2011 Lincoln passenger car driven by Rita M. Shogren, 55, Satanta, that was southbound on U.S. 83.

Shogren was pronounced dead a the scene and transported to Brennamen Mortuary.

The KHP reported Amerin was transported to Southwest Medical Center and she was not wearing a seat belt.
