The Hays High boys fell behind early 12-2 and trailed by as many as 17 in the early part of the second quarter to the Kearney Bearcats and lose 73-51 in their Hays City Shootout Opener. 

The Indians would respond with a 12-2 run to pull within seven three different times, but could get no closer. They trailed by 11 at the half and were behind by double-figures the entire second half. 

The Indians were outrebounded by 18 and had no body score more than seven points. 

Hays will now play Colby in the second round Friday at 9:15pm at Felten Middle School.
