ELLIS — An electrical box fire caused significant damage to a home north of Ellis on Tuesday afternoon.

Firefighters were dispatched to the 1800 block of Ellis Avenue in Ellis for a house fire.

According to Ellis County Rural Fire Director Dick Klaus, the fire started in the electric junction box in the attic.

Klaus said firefighters were forced to tear the ceiling down to extinguish the fire.

The house also sustained smoke and water damage.

Fire crews were on the scene until just after 3 p.m.
