1 dead, 3 hospitalized after head-on crash in western Kan.

fatal crashLIBERAL – A Kansas man died and three others were injured in an accident just before 4 p.m. on Tuesday in Seward County.

The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 2006 GMC Yukon driven by Nicole D. Williams, 37, Andover, was eastbound on U.S 54 seven miles east of Liberal.

The driver attempted to pass another vehicle and struck a westbound1993 Subaru Justy head on. The driver of the Subaru James C. McCort, Jr., 49, Liberal, was ejected.

McCourt Jr., was pronounced dead at the scene and transported to Brennan Mortuary

Williams and passengers in the Yukon Nathaniel Williams Jr., 38, and Nalayshia Williams, 16, both of Andover, were transported to Southwest Medical Center. Two other children were not injured.

The KHP reported McCort Jr. was not wearing a seat belt.
