Hays is digging out Sunday morning after just less than 2.5 inches of snowfall accumulated in Hays on Saturday, according to official reports.
The Kansas State Ag Research Center recorded 2.4 inches of snow — 5.1 inches total for the season so far. Eastern Trego County also had a report of 2 inches of snowfall.
Conditions were made hazardous by gusting winds, which forced the closure of Interstate 70 from Hays to Colorado Saturday evening. The interstate was reopened shortly before midnight Saturday.
