For the fourth time this season, Fort Hays State’s Kate Lehman was named the MIAA Womens’ Basketball Athlete of the Week following her performance against No. 22 Missouri Southern last weekend, announced Monday (Jan. 5) by the league office.

Lehman just missed a double-double in the team’s 89-70 win over No. 22 Missouri Southern, finishing with 31 points and nine rebounds in 31 minutes of action.  Lehman had 16 points in the game’s opening nine minutes and shot 14-of-19 from the field.  It was her third 30-plus scoring effort of the season and moved her into fourth on the school’s career scoring list (she now has 1,529 for her career).  The senior had seven of her nine rebounds come on the offense end, and added two blocks in the win.  From Newton, Kan., Lehman now has 12 MIAA Athlete of the Week honors in her career.

The Tigers are back in action on Monday, Jan. 5 against Southwest Baptist.  FHSU hosts the Bearcats at 5:30 p.m. from Gross Memorial Coliseum.
