FHSU Killip named MIAA Wrestler of the Week

Fort Hays State’s Noah Killip was named the MIAA Wrestler of the Week, announced Tuesday (Jan. 6) by the conference office.

Killip, the Tigers’ 141 pounder, picked up a 9-5 decision over No. 2 Kyle Webb in FHSU’s dual with No. 10 Lindenwood last Saturday. Two first period takedowns gave Killip an early advantage, and after a battle through the second period, the two wrestlers headed to the third in a 4-4 tie. In the third, Killip notched a reversal early in the period to move his riding time ove a minute, and though Webb escaped inside a minute to go, a late takedown from Killip sealed the match for the junior. Killip is now 14-2 on the year, and is the second FHSU wrestler to be named MIAA Athlete of the Week (Jon Inman was given the award on Nov. 18).

FHSU is in Fort Wayne, Ind., this weekend at the NWCA National Duals. The Tigers are scheduled to face No. 7 St. Cloud State in the first round.
