KFIX Rock News: Eddie Money Musical To Open This Week

5904084382_ef81501e82_qEddie Money is bringing a new production of the stage musical based on his life to the Madison Theatre at Molloy College in Rockville Centre, New York, this month.

Two Tickets to Paradise — The Musical, which opens Friday, January 16, tells the story of the singer born Eddie Mahoney, from his working class beginnings through his years as a police officer to his rise to stardom and beyond.

Money wrote the show, which originally premiered in 2009, and serves as the narrator.  The musical not only features many of Eddie’s hits, such as “Two Tickets to Paradise,” “Baby Hold On,” “Shakin'” and “Take Me Home Tonight,” but includes seven songs written just for the production.

The names of the tunes are “These Are My Guys,” “Bill Graham,” “I Only Want the World for You,” “California Here I Come,” “No More Goodbyes,” “This Train Don’t Stop Here Anymore” and “When I Grow Up.”

The members of Money’s longtime backing group — guitarist Benito Dibartoli, bassist Lee Beverly, drummer Glenn Symmonds and keyboardist Chris Grove — provide musical accompaniment throughout the show.

Five performances of the show currently are scheduled — January 16 at 8 p.m., January 17 at 3 p.m., January 24 at 8 p.m. and January 25 at 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. ET.  Visit MadisonTheatreNY.org to buy tickets.

Proceeds raised by the run will be donated to the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund, a charity Eddie has long supported that aids members of the U.S. armed forces and their families.
