Hays man Jason E. Francis, 21, was arrested on suspicion of burglary after allegedly stealing more than $400 in nutritional supplements from Main Street Gym and Fitness, 806 Main.

According to Lt. Brandon Wright of the Hays Police Department, the incident was reported just after 8 a.m. Jan. 8 when the owner of the gym reported he arrived to find products on the floor and items missing.

Wright said due to items apparently left behind the scene of the crime, Francis was identified as a potential suspect and was arrested later the same morning at 10:30 a.m.

Main Street Gym and Fitness is open 24 hours a day and is accessible overnight by members who own a security card.

Wright said Francis was apparently a former member of the gym, but no longer had access to a security card, noting it is unclear how entry was gained.
