Bob and Pam Gillen named Covenant Hometown Heroes

Bob and Pam Gillen

Bob and Pam Gillen have been named the most recent Covenant Builders Hometown Heroes.

“Pam and Bob are a wonderful pair, they truly make this world a better place. Pam has the ability to make you smile, even on the worst of days. She listens without judgement and has a healing hug that could cure a cold (probably),” their nomination said. “Bob is the type of man who you would want to go on a roadtrip with, intelligent and has experienced a lot of life!

The couple will be honored between FHSU basketball games Saturday at Gross Memorial Coliseum.

“Together they support everything FHSU — from athletics to musical productions and theatre. Whether it’s raining, windy, a week night, if FHSU is hosting it, Pam and Bob are there with Tiger bells on! Their marriage and belief in the greater good is something to aspire towards. They are true leaders in this community and I would love to share this with our Tiger Family as well!”

Bob is head of the K-State Agricultural Research Center in Hays; also in Garden City and Colby, since 2006. His past/present involvements include Rotary Club, United Way of Ellis County, Hays Area Chamber of Commerce, Hays First United Methodist Church, and a number of professional scientific societies.

Pam works at the FHSU Foundation since 2006. Her past/present involvements include P.E.O Chapter GS, Hays First United Methodist Church and FHSU Special Events Committee.

“Bob and Pam love Fort Hays State and the university should be proud knowing they sport their tiger gear to athletic events, music and theater productions, Encore events, and so much more. They embody what it means to be a Fort Hays State University Tiger!
