NICKERSON- A Kansas teenager was injured in an accident just before 10 p.m. on Monday in Reno County.

The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 2002 Mazda Protégé driven by Avery C. Byard, 17, South Hutchinson, was traveling eastbound on Kansas 14 two miles west of Nickerson passing a tractor-trailer.

The driver lost control of the vehicle. It went off the highway into the ditch, struck a tree and rolled.

Byard was transported to Hutchinson Regional Medical Center.

The KHP reported she was properly restrained at the time of the accident.
