The Hays High School yearbook staff  and newspaper staff were both recently named “All Kansas” — the highest award granted by the Kansas Scholastic Press Association for their 2013-14 yearbook.

HHS instructor Bill Gasper teaches photography, journalism, newspaper and yearbook.

Gasper said it is the second time in the past 10 years HHS has received the honor. Hays High’s newspaper has won the All-Kansas Award four times during in the last 10 years, as well as the national Pacemaker Award in 2009 and a Pacemaker finalist in 2011.

Gasper said the yearbook is judged in five areas — theme, coverage, writing, design and photography.

Gasper said he was proud of his “busy and hard-working” students and has “high hopes and expectations” they will earn the honor again next year.
