Edith M. Gottschalk

Hays, Kansas – Edith M. Gottschalk, age 100, died Thursday, January 22, 2015 at the Good Samaritan Society of Hays Care Center.

She was born October 10, 1914, in Leibenthal, Kansas to Alex and Elizabeth Anna (Randa) Linnenberger. She married George Gottschalk on October 10, 1934 in Schoenchen, Kansas. He died August 11,1984.

She was a homemaker and worked at Weisner’s Grocery Store and Duckwall’s in Hays. She was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, a volunteer at Hays Medical Center and a Senior Companion for many years.

Survivors include three sons, Leroy Gottschalk and wife, Rita, Ralph Gottschalk and wife, Sharon, Bob Gottschalk and wife, Betty, all of Hays, KS; two brothers, Gilbert Linnenberger and companion Lenorie, Littleton, CO; Jerry Linnenberger and wife, Vickie, Sterling, KS; one sister, Linda Lowe, CA; four sisters-in-law, Bernie Linnenberger, and Mary Evelyn Linnenberger, both of Great Bend, KS; Norine Linnenberger, Denver, CO; Vernita Linnenberger, Eads, CO; seven grandchildren, Keith (Sandy) Gottschalk, Kevin (Chris) Gottschalk, Kent (Michelle) Gottschalk, Kim Briney, Kelly (Darin) Stiles, Roger (Pam) Gottschalk, Jeff (Tammy) Gottschalk; 12 great grandchildren, Brandon, Dylan and Kaylor Gottschalk, Keeton Gottschalk, Nathan and Shara Briney, Kaley and Derck Stiles, Allyson and Lauren Gottschalk, BreAnna and Dalton Gottschalk; two step grandchildren, Kevin and Jerry Simonton

She was preceded in dearth by her parents, husband, two infant sons, Roger and Wayne Gottschalk, one great grandson, Kaden Gottschalk, four brothers, Tony, Paul, Gene and Sylvester Linnenberger, three sisters, Betty Radke and Marie Holeman and Ann Connally; and one sister-in- law, Lillian Linnenberger; four brothers-in-law, Richard Lowe, Louis Radke, Larry Holeman, Bernard Connally.

Services are at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, January 24, 2015 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, 1805 Vine Street, Hays, Kansas. Burial in St. Joseph Cemetery Hays, Kansas.

A vigil service is at 7:00 P.M. Friday, at Cline’s Mortuary of Hays, 1919 East 22nd Street, Hays, Kansas 67601. Visitation is from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. Friday and from 9:00 to 10:45 A.M. Saturday at Cline’s Mortuary of Hays.
